FAQ
Q: What’s the deal with the name?
A: The word “verge” can be used to describe a strip of land between a road and sidewalk, often decorated with bushes, trees, and plantings. In Avondale Estates, a prominent verge sits between S. Avondale Rd. and N. Avondale Rd. “Verge” can also mean “approach something closely” which we felt could apply to the growth and momentum felt by those who live and work in the ever-improving city of Avondale Estates.
Q: Why a free print publication?
A: Simply put, it’s cool! Well, that’s what Isadora would tell you, anyway. The people and businesses that operate out of Avondale Estates have incredible stories to share, and we wanted to help tell those stories through compelling photography and writing. The Avondale Estates Business Association (AEBA), the Avondale Arts Alliance, and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) all feel that this zine can be a means of connection and networking between those who live and work in this community, and beyond.
Q: How often do you print new editions?
A: We are planning to produce a new edition of The Verge zine quarterly, and launched our first edition in December, 2024. You can look for the next edition sometime before summer of 2025.
Q: Where can I find print copies?
A: Look for print copies at local shops and locations, including: Banjo Coffee, the Avondale Arts Center, and City Hall. Additional information about distribution will be made available on this website in weeks to come.
Q: How can I get involved?
A: The Verge zine welcomes advertising partners and sponsors to help support our print costs. Got a story or pictures to share with us? Want to pitch in? Email us to get the conversation going.
